First Show in Spy Coast Farm Young Sporthorse Series a Success

For the first time in its long history, the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF), in conjunction with the North American Studbook (NAS), hosted the Spy Coast Farm Young Sporthorse Show on January 25. It showcased the talents of young horses from yearlings through five years old. This was the first show of a four-part series, and to culminate this series, the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center will hold the finals of the Spy Coast Farm Young Sporthorse Show Series in December of 2011.

The first show of the series had a great turnout of participants with more than 70 entries throughout the day. The show hosted five divisions throughout the day, each of which were divided by age, including Suitability for Sport In-Hand, Jump Chute, Schooling Dressage, Suitability for Sport Under Saddle, and Style of Jumping Under Saddle. Participants were judged by Jos Sevriens and Hilda Gurney, while the handlers of the show were Silvio Wolfbusch and Klaus Schengber.

Marabet Farm was very successful during this show and took home top honors in six classes, including Suitability in Hand for 2 Year Olds, Suitability in Hand for 3 year Olds, Jump Chute for 3 Year Olds, Jump Chute for 4 and 5 Year Olds, Suitability for Sport Under Saddle for 5 Year Olds, and Style Jumping Under Saddle for 5 Year Olds. Marabet Farm is based out of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and has been run by the Fullington family since 1978.

Maggie Fullington of Marabet Farm, commented on The Spy Coast Farm Young Sporthorse Show saying, "It was terrific. The show itself was very well done and (the FTI) WEF certainly went out of its way to make it fantastic with the dressage ring, the jumping ring, the jump chute, and everything."

Handlers were provided in the in-hand classes

Fullington was pleased with the performance of her RPSI stallion Bliss MF (Balou du Rouet x Argentinus) who competed in the 5 Year Old divisions, and won every class in which he was entered. Fullington was especially excited about her younger horse, the BWP stallion Carry On MF (Corlando x King David), who also won all of his classes in the 3 Year Old divisions. "We've always thought he was a great stallion, but the judges wrote on his card that he was an excellent stallion prospect, which was really rewarding for us," noted Fullington.
