Tampa, FL - The Florida Gold Coast Quarter Horse Show is pleased to welcome Robin Petix and The Collection as the sponsor of The Gold Coast Hunter Classic and the Gold Coast Non-Pro Hunter Classic. These highlight events will showcase the talent of the country's top quarter horses over a traditional hunter course. The Collection is a niche clothing company serving hunter seat riders of all disciplines and all breeds.
Scheduled for December 27-31, 2012 at the Florida State Fairgrounds' Bob Thomas Equestrian Center in Tampa, FL, the Florida Gold Coast Quarter Horse Show features five full days of events including Hunters, Equitation, Reining, Western Pleasure, Trail Riding, Driving, Showmanship and Halter classes. This year, the show ends on the 31st to help exhibitors take advantage of the six shows needed to accumulate points before the end of the year for the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).
As the owner of The Collection, Robin Petix has a special fondness for quarter horses in the hunter ring, and enjoys having the opportunity to help them showcase everything they have to offer. "Quarter Horses, as well as every other breed or discipline, needs to step outside of itself a little bit and push itself to better the breed," she explained. "The Hunter Classics provide a venue for horses that might not otherwise fit into its category. It gives that horse a place to jump bigger and better and encourages us to let the horse be the best it can be, and it pushes the rider outside his or her comfort zone."
Petix is a firm believer in giving back to an industry that has given so much to her. "I sponsor the Hunter Classics because I am eternal optimist," she commented. "I believe that we're all a big circle. I think that my customers shop with me, they come to the horse shows, and the horse shows allow me to be a vendor. I believe that the best thing you can do as a business, an exhibitor, or an event is give back."
The Collection began because Petix believed in helping riders look great. "It started out with a lot of western wear," she said. "I did driving hats; I did everything. It eventually pared itself down to my main interest, which are hunters. I've always owned nice quarter horse hunters."
Petix concluded, "At the Florida Gold Coast Quarter Horse Show I love seeing all of my customers and finding out how they did at the World Show and what their plans are for the coming year. I watch every jump, every stride, every horse, and I enjoy it so much. I love to watch good horses compete. It's great to be with my customers and watch them show."
