Four Dead Horses Found near Dallas-Ft. Worth; Seven Others Seized
Dfw.cbslocal.com is reporting that charges are pending against the owner of eleven horses that were grossly neglected. Four of the horses had died, while the seven survivors were seized by SPCA investigators and Sheriff's Deputies.
There will be a hearing next week to determine custody of the animals.
Dfw.cbslocal.com quoted Maura Davies of the SPCA about the horrific conditions in which the desperate animals had tried to eat trees:
“Horses generally do not eat bark and twigs. In fact, it has little to no nutritional value for them. That is a sign of a horse that’s desperate for food, that a horse is so desperately hungry that it will eat anything rather than starve.”
