2011 Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby Features a Day of Equestrian Excellence



Carson City, NV - August 29, 2011 - The 2011 $25,000 Franktown Meadows USHJA International Hunter Derby will take place at the Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility in Carson City, Nevada on September 5, 2011. The venue is nestled at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range between Reno and Carson City, NV. Offering outstanding views and immaculate grounds, the Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility is the perfect backdrop for the derby as spectators admire the beautiful hunter derby course. The event includes first-class dining, entertainment, shopping, and top hunter riders. It is the West Coast's only standalone hunter derby, and the Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby will showcase the best horse and rider combinations in the country as they compete for the winning title.


The Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility has been owned and operated by the MacLean family for three generations. The facility has since evolved into a sanctuary for horses and owners of multiple disciplines. The 41-acre Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility hosts many clinics, horse shows, and various equestrian disciplines. The large facility offers different instructors for hunters, jumpers, equitation, dressage, and western riding, accommodating many disciplines at one venue.

The MacLean family is looking forward to hosting the Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby at their facility for the second year in a row. The derby will take place on the outdoor field right at the foothills of the mountains. There will be excellent accommodations for each horse participating in the derby. When riders leave the facility there is 24-hour security along with a gated entrance. Exhibitors will enjoy the beautiful grounds, large warm up areas, and breathtaking atmosphere. Trainers, exhibitors, and spectators will have the ability to shop at multiple vendors, enjoy the champagne brunch, and even visit Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Northern Nevada area.


The Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby is also a charitable event benefiting ALS of Nevada, a non-profit charitable organization that aids the Northern Nevada area. The derby will be a member event of the United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) International Hunter Derby Series. Over the course of three days, riders and spectators will enjoy a variety of exciting events that offer the highest quality judges, the best course designers, great food, multiple exhibits for all ages, and first class hospitality for two- and four-legged competitors alike.


The Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby plans to continuing striving to make their event one that riders will be able to look forward to for years to come.
