American Seven-Goaler Jeff Hall Heads Pro Lineup For
Fourth Annual Gay Polo League International Tournament
WELLINGTON, FL- - Jeff Hall, the face of Piaget as polo's brand ambassador, heads the list of four professional polo players for the upcoming fourth annual International Gay Polo Tournament at Grand Champions Polo Club. Hall, 33, is one of the best polo players in the world and one of just a few highly-rated U.S. polo players at seven goals. Hall is currently playing for Marc Ganzi's Audi team in the 26-high goal season in the USPA Piaget Gold Cup and Maserati 109th U.S. Open Polo Championship. Hall started playing polo at age 7 and professionally at age 12. He is a six-time winner of the USPA Silver Cup, 2011 America's Cup tournament MVP and winner of the Iglehart Cup, Texas Open, Ylvisaker Cup, C.V. Whitney Cup and America's Cup. Hall will be joined by 6-goaler Nacho Badiola, at 23, one of Argentina's rising young stars; five-goaler Juan Bollini and four-goaler Joey Casey. Badiola and Bollini compete for Melissa Ganzi's 20- and 26-goal Piaget teams. Badiola, the son of former 9-goaler Juan Badiola, is making his 26-goal debut in Wellington this season after competing in 20-goal tournaments at Grand Champions Polo Club and Palm City Polo Club in Boca Raton.
Raised in Coronel Suarez, Argentina, a polo hotbed, Badiola learned from some of the greats growing up. Badiola was named MVP as a member of the winning team Ruby Q in the 2012 USPA Spring Classic at Grand Champions Club. Bollini, a former banker in his native Argentina, began playing polo in his 20s and rose through the ranks quickly, reaching 8 goals at the pinnacle of his career. He was a member of three winning Gold Cup teams. Casey, a former 7-goaler, brings more than 28 years of professional polo experience to the GPL tournament and has competed in every major polo tournament including the U.S. Open. He was a four-time winner of the Gold Cup and three-time C.V. Whitney Cup winner. This year's tournament will feature a record six teams for the first time in GPL tournament history. Four teams will compete in the first bracket of play for top level players and two teams of developing players will compete in a newly-created second bracket on April 12th.
Each team will be comprised of three Gay Polo League players and one high goal professional. It will be the fourth consecutive year that high goal polo players and padrones Marc and Melissa Ganzi have hosted the event which is growing in popularity at the local grass roots, national and international levels. Players will travel from around the world to compete for the coveted Senator Cup Trophy for the championship game winners and Founders Cup for the consolation match winner. On Friday, April 12th two upper bracket four-chukker games will be held to determine the seeding among the four teams for Saturday's consolation and championship games at 1 and 3 p.m. Also on Friday, second bracket teams will compete in a two-chukker final. Trophies will be presented to the first and second bracket teams during Saturday's trophy presentation ceremonies on the main field.
The Gay Polo League, created in 2006, is an international organization and only known gay polo league in the world.
