The USET Foundation Hosts Luncheon for George H. Morris Horsemastership Clinic Riders

Wellington, FL - The George H. Morris Horsemastership Training Session proved a success as it came to a close on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Unfortunately, Morris was ill for the duration of the clinic; however, John Madden, Lizzy Chesson, Director of High Performance Show Jumping, and the Pan American Show Jumping Team stepped forward and took the reins at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center clinic site. The United States Equestrian Team Foundation hosted a congratulatory luncheon at the White Horse Tavern on the final day, thanking the riders, clinicians and sponsors for their efforts and immense help throughout the week.

"While it was disappointing not to have George here this week, I don't think anyone would have been prouder than George of the way everyone stepped up and put together such an incredible week," Executive Director of the USET Foundation Bonnie Jenkins said. "All 12 riders who earned their spot at the clinic this week should know what a huge accomplishment that it is in itself. For the young riders to have the opportunity to develop relationships with our team riders and have them come and volunteer their time for the future of this sport, we should all be proud. Our country is on the right path to continue to field Gold medal winning teams well into the future. One of the key points of the USET Foundation's mission is building for the future and I think we really accomplished that this week."

The USET Foundation presented each of the riders with a silver picture frame, congratulating them for their participation and horsemastership.  Team farrier Dean Piper also provided the clinic riders with his emergency farrier packet, a tool he used during his session on Tuesday, January 3rd. The final award each of the students received was a gift certificate provided by Equestrian Sports Production.

Lizzy Chesson thanked Pancho Lopez for his tremendous work during the week as the barn manager as well as USEF Assistant Director of Show Jumping HP Programs Amy Serridge. Chesson also recognized both George Morris and John Madden for their vision of these training sessions.

"Each year it gets better and better, they are really the driving force for that, and we need to thank them for it," Chesson stated. "This is part of the journey for these riders' education. Each one of the riders has made amazing contacts this week, and now it is about reaching out and maintaining those contacts. We want to see them get up that pipeline and we are here to help them do it."
