The Global Champions Tour Rankings after the Monaco event



Australian Edwina Alexander has now moved to top of the Global Champions Tour Ranking with 155 points after placing 7th in the Grand Prix of Monaco. Over the weekend Edwina, who is sponsored by Gucci, also became the first GCT rider to earn a million euros since the richest show jumping series commenced in 2006.

Ludger Beerbaum (GER), the previous GCT Ranking leader, placed 14th in the GCT Grand Prix of Monaco and relegated to second ranking position with 155.50 points.

Alvaro de Miranda (BRA), who had led the GCT Ranking's charge for the first three legs of the season's circuit remains steady ranked third with 123 points. He had two fences down in the first round of the Grand Prix of Monaco eventually placing 25th.

Each of these riders have confirmed their commitment to ride in Estoril, Portugal this next weekend (July 1-2) along with Ireland's Denis Lynch (123 ranking points-4th position), Luciana Diniz (POR) and Rolf-Goran Bengtsson (SWE) who are in equal 5th with 112 points.

As the Global Champions Tour season approaches mid season riders are very close on the GCT Rankings and all out to win the extra 300,000 euro cheque with the concluding event to be held at the Al Forsan International Sports Arena in Abu Dhabi.

This week, Estoril will realise the 6th destination for the Global Champions Tour which will be followed by Chantilly, France (22-24th July), Valkenswaard, The Netherlands(12-14th August), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2-4th September) and Abu Dhabi (24-26th November).

All of the world's top international riders are making the Global Champions Tour their major competition focus for the 2011 season.
