Brash beats Bosty in London Accumulator

This morning's first CSI5* class saw the fast Frenchman Roger-Yves Bost land the leading time aboard Castle Forbes Cosma. Already a winning combination here in London, Bosty looked to make a double-win aboard the fast mare. An incredible time for the unorthodox French jockey, offered little surprise to onlookers as the best of the best attempted to take over the lead in the 1.45 Accumulator competition.
Bosty rounded the course with his usual style, taking every risk available on course to ensure a fast time for France. Finishing with a time of 42.97 seconds, Bosty managed the course very easily aboard the wonderful 13 year old Oldenburg mare. World number one ranking rider, Christian Ahlmann, looked to repeat his win from Friday aboard the very fast Little Lady Z. A fast time of 43.10 seconds would certainly keep the top ranking German rider in the ribbons with third place, who finished third in our Longines GCT Grand Prix of London yesterday aboard Taloubet Z.
But it was the Scotsman, Scott Brash, from Peebles, Scotland who delivered the winning round. Riding the Belgian-bred Bon Ami, a horse the young Olympian bought as a young horse and has developed through the ranks to compete at the top international level, Scott delivered an excellent round for Great Britain. Jumping the final joker fence, Scott managed to beat Bosty's time by 0.10 seconds, landing the leading time at 42.87 seconds.
Another wonderful win for the Britons as we enjoy our final day of competition here in London for the fourth event of the Longines Global Champions Tour season.
The ranking race hots up again on Thursday with the 5th leg of the Longines Global Champions Tour on the French Riviera after a breathtaking Grand Prix in London where the standard of competition continued to reach new heights.
Portugal’s Luciana Diniz now heads up the ranking board after overtaking top US rider Laura Kraut - but there is only one point in it with Luciana on 106 and Laura on 105.
Nick Skelton has moved up the ranking into the Top 10 after coming second in one of the most breathtaking Grand Prix jump offs in the sport for some years. Nick, riding his Olympic gold medal stallion Big Star, eclipsed Christian Ahlmann’s round by only 0.01 of a second in the London Grand Prix on Saturday in front of a packed home crowd. But he was trumped by an electrifying round by Ben Maher on Cella sealing a patriotic victory in Britain.
The Top 10 of the championship series ranking is now packed with world show jumping heavyweights setting up a high calibre race towards the final in Doha, Qatar, in November.
Christian Ahlmann is snapping at the heels of Luciana and Laura and is on 100 points in third place. Alvaro de Miranda and Edwina Tops-Alexander are in fourth and fifth. Michael Whitaker, Hans-Dieter Dreher, Daniel Deusser, Denis Lynch and Nick Skelton complete the Top 10.
Following the Grand Prix top riders remarked on the extraordinary jump off and the success of the London event. Watch the comments on film of Michael Whitaker, Harrie Smolders and Ludger Beerbaum on our gallery for London:http://www.globalchampionstour.com/events/2013/london/gallery/
London Grand Prix winner Ben said: “The Global Tour is the main attraction for most riders through the year. This event in London has been great for building public popularity back into our sport.” Christian Ahlmann of Germany said: “It was really good. We got to bring three horses as there were lots of good classes and it was amazing sport. It was a lot of fun for the riders and owners.”
Today Marco Kutscher and Cash (pictured) won the final 5* class of the event in blistering style finishing almost a second faster that on-form Ben Maher and Tripple X III.
