Competition hots up as stars of show jumping sizzle in Cannes

The temperature in the Longines Global Champions Tour ranking is hotting up as the season reaches the 5th leg in Cannes on the French Riviera.

The world’s elite Top 30 riders will be out in force for three days of intense compeittion climaxing in the €285,000 Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix on Saturday night, broadcast live by Eurosport to millions of homes around the world.

The glamorous Hesperides Arena near the internationally famous Croisette will be the scene for the highest level of show jumping competition in the world featuring the best riders and horses and the highest prize money. Longines, the famous Swiss watchmaker, continues its proud tradition in equestrian sport as Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the championship series with the Grand Prix winner receiving a stunning Longines timepiece.

Ranking leader Luciana Diniz is only one point ahead of US rider Laura Kraut and they are closely followed by Germany’s Christian Ahlmann, who is part of a strong German contingent at the event. France will also be fielding a strong turnout of the nation’s leading riders. Last year’s winner Gerco Schroder will be hoping to repeat his powerful performance in the Grand Prix and the ever popular Cevo Itot du Chateau, ridden by two-times champion Edwina Tops-Alexander, will no doubt be cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd.

Expect top sport, glamour, worldwide TV coverage and a passionate crowd as the Longines Global Champions Tour rolls into Cannes.
