Georgina Bloomberg Wins Again at the Hampton Classic

Riding Crown 5, She Wins the $10,000 Royalton Farms Open Jumper Class.

Bridgehampton, NY - Georgina Bloomberg of New York, NY, won her second open jumper class in as many days at the Hampton Classic Horse Show on Wednesday. Riding Crown 5, owned by Gotham Enterprizes, LLC, Bloomberg was the fastest of the nine clear rounds in the jump-off to take the $10,000 Royalton Farms Open Jumper 1.45m class in the Grand Prix ring.

"It's a great way to start the week," said Bloomberg of her two victories. "My horse is not the fastest; he spends a lot of time in the air, so I knew I had to turn tight. I have not done too many jump-offs with him so I was pleasantly surprised."

Bloomberg and Crown 5 stopped the timers in 30.876 seconds, more than a second faster than Charlie Jacobs and Cassinja S, owned by CMJ Sporthorse, LLC, who finished in a time of 31.760 seconds. Catherine Tyree and Bokai, owned by Joseph Tyree, were third after finishing in 32.570 seconds.

"I was actually surprised by the margin, so I was very happy," continued Bloomberg. "This is my son Jasper's favorite horse. He's watched him since day one and he's always been madly in love with him. It's nice that this horse is stepping up and becoming a super kind of a horse so Jasper can see him be successful in the show ring."

The win moved Bloomberg up to third place in the $30,000 Longines Rider Challenge with 112 points. Richie Moloney of Ireland continues to lead with 138.5 points and Catherine Tyree is second with 120 points.

Fairtrade Vd Hazelhof and Andrew Kocher Win the Split Rock Farm 7 & Under Jumpers

Earlier in the day, Andrew Kocher piloted Fairtrade Vd Hazelhof, owned by Eagle Valley Partners, LLC, to victory in the $10,000 Split Rock Farm 7 & Under Jumpers 1.40m class going clear in 62.018 seconds. Sarah Scheiring and Kokette Van De Heffinck, owned by Ascent Equestrian, LLC, were second with 65.440 and Nicholas Dello Joio and Lady Margaret Zf, owned by Ziedler Farm Canada Ltd., were third going clear in a time of 66.435 seconds.

"She is a six year old mare," said Kocher. "We got her about a year and half ago and she wasn't even jumping then. We taught her how to jump, put her in her first show in Texas and now she is winning here. We are very happy with her"

Amanda Derbyshire on Goldbreaker Wins Wolffer Estate Open Jumper Class

Amanda Derbyshire of Wellington, FL, was the first to ride in the $10,000 Wolffer Estate Open Jumper 1.40m class and had to wait for the huge field of 51 remaining riders to complete their rounds before she could enjoy her victory.

"I was the first to go so I just gave it what I had and hoped it was enough. I didn't think it would hold up, I thought the last couple of riders were going to get me. I was lucky that they didn't," said Derbyshire. "There was nowhere really that you could do anything different, it was all about speed. I'm lucky that he's a really fast horse. He's brave so you can really gamble with him. He's the bravest and fastest horse I've ever had."

Riding Goldbreaker, owned by David Gochman, Derbyshire clocked in at 57.903 seconds. Catherine Tyree and Don't Go finished second going clear in 58.535 and Beezie Madden and Vanilla, owned by Abigail Wexner, were third with a clear round in 58.631.

The Classic is significant to Derbyshire, "I came to America seven years ago and the Hampton Classic was the first show that I competed in, so it is very special to win here. I have had seconds and thirds, but this is the first class that I have ever won here, so it's pretty exciting."

The Hampton Classic Horse Show runs through Sunday, September 4 at its pristine Bridgehampton, NY, venue,. For this year's 41st annual edition, a fourth FEI class has been added to the schedule in addition to more than 200 classes of competition for horses and riders of all ages and abilities. A wide range of hunter, jumper and equitation classes are offered at all levels, from leadline all the way up to grand prix. Classes are also featured for riders with disabilities.

In addition to the six show rings, the Hampton Classic features a Boutique Garden with more than 80 vendors for an amazing shopping experience, a wide selection of dining options and a Farmer's Market, all on its immaculate 60-acre show grounds.
