Another Winning Performance in the Prix St George

Despite Tough Conditions

International Grand Prix Dressage Rider and Trainer, Heather Blitz, scored a third consecutive victory this season with her 8 year old Danish Warmblood gelding Paragon (Don Schufro-Pari Lord) when the pair clinched the Prix St George with a score of 70.614%  beating a field of 46 at the Wellington Classic Dressage Spring Challenge CDI-W held February 11th at the Jim Brandon Arena in Florida.

The wet conditions presented difficult footing, which was in itself challenging for the horses in the covered arena. Heather commented, 'He did a great job despite the conditions and tried his best. His shoulder-in was better than ever, he had a nice trot and canter extension but the corners of the arena were very slippery, which made it hard for him to prepare for some things and caused him to make mistakes in the three-tempi changes.  Other than that he was really good and I'm very pleased with his progress. Unfortunately, I had to scratch from the Intermediare I due to the excessively wet conditions. Naturally, it's more important to protect him from poor footing and not unbalance him at this stage in his training.'

Heather and Paragon will be back in the competition arena for the Palm Beach Dressage Derby CDI-W from March 4-6, 2011, followed by the Wellington Classic Dressage Challenge II CDI1* March 11-13, 2011.

Later this month Heather will be hosting a clinic by Mary Wanless from February 21-23, 2011. For more information, please go to www.heatherblitz.info and click on the link.
