Horse Rescued from Trailer Wreck with Jaws of Life

ReporterHerald.com is reporting that Duke, a horse trapped in a wrecked trailer, has been rescued by the Loveland Fire Department using the Jaws of Life.

Duke is used for jousting tournaments by stuntman, actor and jousting competitor Patrick Lambke.

The horse was being trailered to Fort Collins, Colorado, when the trailer came loose from Lambke's tow bus and headed down the canyon road on its own.  Lambke tried to block it,  but another driver collided with it which brought it to a stop.

A second horse in the trailer was able to walk out fine, but Duke had tried to use the escape door and got severely wedged.  Passers-by helped Lambke reposition Duke so that he could be sedated and cut out of the wreck.

After a couple of hours, he was finally dragged out, having suffered some cuts and bruises.  He is expected to recover and to continue his jousting career.
