Darragh Kenny grabs podium finish in €200,000 Longines Grand Prix at Falsterbo

Offaly’s Darragh Kenny scored Ireland’s second five-star podium finish of the weekend, in the €200,000 Longines Grand Prix at Falsterbo in Sweden today (Sunday).
Kenny partnered the 10-year-old gelding Go Easy De Muze to a double clear round, when drawn early in a 12 horse jump-off and a time of 45.85 seconds saw them finish third in the final standings. Kenny was joined in the jump-off by Anthony Condon after the Waterford native jumped clear in the opening round with Aristio – adding to a double clear for the pair in Falsterbo’s Nations Cup on Friday. Condon and the John Hales-owned Aristio finished with one fence down when chasing the target time as second last to go and eventually finished eighth overall.
Home favourite Rolf-Göran Bengtsson collected the winner’s trophy and €66,000 with Clarimo ASK, while Brazil’s Eduardo Menezes finished as runner-up with Quintol.
Bertram Allen had also scored a podium finish for Ireland in the five-star Global Champions Tour Grand Prix at Estoril in Portugal on Saturday night. He guided the Noel Delahunty-owned stallion Hector van d”Abdijhoeve to third place behind Italian winner Piergiorgio Bucci and Casallo Z .
Meanwhile at the three-star Dutch show at Geesteren, Mayo’s Alex Duffy took sixth place in the Grand Prix with the Irish Sport Horse WCE Cruco, with Germany’s Philip Rüping winning aboard Copperfield.
