EUROPEAN INTERNATIONAL TRIALS FOR YOUNG RIDERS, JUNIORS & CHILDREN ON HORSES
THE European International Trials for Young Riders, Juniors and Children On Horses will take place in Barnadown, Gorey, Co. Wexford, from 6th to 9th April 2012. The international trials are sponsored by Pegus Horse Feeds, Horse Sport Ireland and Showjumping Ireland. International course designer, Alan Wade, will be the course builder while international judge, Patricia Furlong, has been appointed by the FEI to act as Assessing Delegate for the qualifying competition.
The trials will be an opportunity for riders to gain their FEI Certificates of Capability for the European Championships 2012; riders can earn their certificates by jumping in the qualifying Grand Prix competition on Monday, 9th April, and obtaining the minimum requirements (Art. 6: Jumping Rules – Eligibility at International Events and Championships). The trials at Barnadown are one of the exceptional events the FEI have sanctioned for the purpose of qualifying as many athletes as possible for European Championship selection.
Comdt. John Ledingham, Chef d’Equipe for the three Championship teams, said; “As high performance manager of the underage showjumping squads, I am really looking forward to meeting potential European Championship members and their parents at the European Trials in Barnadown. We wish them the best of luck on their journey to the European Championships in Austria. Horse Sport Ireland is dedicated to supporting our underage showjumping teams.”
Riders should note that there will be an information reception on Friday, 6th April at 6pm in Barnadown and all riders are requested to attend.
This year’s European Showjumping Championship for Young Riders (U21), Juniors (U18) and Children On Horses (U14) will take place in Ebreichsdorf, Austria, from 13th to 19th August.
