ENNIS HOPES TO MAINTAIN BALLINDENISK LEAD AFTER CROSS COUNTRY
MEATH'S Sarah Ennis, who is currently leading the CCI3* class at the Johnson & Perrott Land Rover International Horse Trials in Ballindenisk, Cork, says she is reasonably confident of maintaining her place after the cross-country element tomorrow (Saturday) with BLM Diamond Delux.
She said: "It's quite strong with a good few questions, and the time will be tight, and though I'm sure there'll be a shake-up in the field tomorrow fingers crossed we'll hold onto our place at the end of the day. He was very good in Blenheim last week, and it was a very strong track."
With the €50,000 Goresbridge Go For Gold bonus prize at stake, competition in the CIC3* class will be considerable this weekend. The prize will be awarded if the winning horse/rider combination of the CIC3* class goes on to win a CCI3* at Ballindenisk in 2013.
Currently leading the class after dressage this year is Britain's Oliver Townend and Imperial Master, who held onto their position after the second day dressage, while in the CCI3* Italy's Vittoria Panizzon also held her overnight lead with Merlots Magic.
in the CIC2*, Cork's Patricia Ryan on Lady Chatterbox, is currently in front on a score of 47.5, with the USA's Elisabeth Halliday-Sharp less than a point behind with Newmarket Malt.
Sweden's Therese van Rijckevorsel and Buzzy Bee du Langwater also remain in pole position in the CCI1*, while the CCIJ* saw Ireland's Ellen Fitzsimons take the lead today on First Night.
