Show Jumping - Splaine Names Team for Spanish Nations' Cup

IRELAND'S Show Jumping Team Manager Robert Splaine this evening (Friday) confirmed the Irish team who will compete in Saturday afternoon's Spanish Nations' Cup at Gijon.

Ireland is drawn 12th of 13 teams competing, and will line out as:
Billy Twomey/Romanov
Marion Hughes/Heritage HHS Fortuna (ISH)
Trevor Coyle/Jubilee d'Ouilly
Conor Swail/Lansdowne

Irish riders have already made their mark at the five-star competition in the northern Spanish coastal city, with Conor Swail and Martha Louise placing second in the opening competition on Wednesday, with individual competitor Denis Lynch also taking a runner-up place in the evening jump-off class, with Vedor.

Billy Twomey had a seventh place finish in Thursday's Accumulator class on board Molly Malone V, with Conor Swail finishing in tenth on Vancouver DML.

Swail had another second place on Thursday night, this time in the jump-off feature class, with the stallion Lansdowne, while Twomey placed fourth today in the speed class with Romanov.

The Gijon Nations' Cup is part of the FEI Promotional league, and points won do not contribute to the Superleague.
