IRISH SPORT HORSE STUDBOOK SHOW JUMPING SERIES AT TATTERSALLS

THE FINAL leg of the 2012 Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series took place at the Tattersalls Ward Union Hunt Show this weekend in Ratoath, Co. Meath. With almost €13,000 on offer over the two days, qualifiers were held on Saturday leading to Sunday’s finals when the League winners were also crowned.

In the 5 Year Old Final, it was Edward Butler aboard Dermot Forde’s Shantonagh (ISH) who took the class, with a time of 38.83 seconds in the nine horse jump-off. The five year old gelding out of the international showjumping mare, Diamond Explosion (ISH), was also bred by Dermot Forde. Finishing top of the 5 Year Old League and securing their place on the Irish Sport Horse Studbook team for the 2012 World Breeding Championships in Lanaken, were Thomas O’Brien and the stallion Codarco (ISH).

In the 6 Year Old Final, fourteen combinations made it through to the jump-off. Winning the class, in a time of 37.44 seconds, were Andrew Bourns and La De Da (ISH). Finishing joint first in the 6 Year Old League and now Lanaken-bound, were John Floody with Bronson De Reve (ISH) and Declan Egan with Coco Chanelle (ISH).

The 7 Year Old Final saw only three combinations producing clear first rounds to make it through to the jump-off. Producing the only double clear round of the class were Gary Quinn and Renolli (ISH), who took home first prize of €890 for owner John Scally. Two stallions shared top spot in the 7 Year Old League, when Harry Marshall with Derryinver Luxury Cruise (ISH) and Greg Broderick with BP Blondey (ISH) finished on 28 points apiece, both securing their team places for the Championships in Belgium later this year.
