Show Jumping - Irish Riders Notch Up Three More Wins in Europe

IRISH riders continued their sparkling run of good form Saturday with three wins at two different European shows.

In the big jump-off class at Oliva in Spain, Mayo's Cameron Hanley captured the top prize on Karina Johannpe's Caretina de Joter, with Niall Talbot and Nicos de la Cense placing fifth.

Earlier at Oliva, Ireland's Fiona Campbell took a first place in the 1m40 speed class on the irish Sport Horse Sallymount Touch of Clover, with Gerard Campbell close behind in second on Catch Me If You Can.

At Hardelot in France, Tipperary's Shane Breen was victorious in the evening's big speed class with Breen Equestrian's Farao Van T Vennehof, outpacing Britain's Nicole Pavitt and Victor Blue by a vital twentieth of a second.

Yesterday, Jessica Kurten and Dermott Lennon scored back-to-back victories at Lanaken in Belgium, while Galway's 19 year-old Michael Duffy took the winner's rosette at the two-phase competition in Hardelot.

Today, meanwhile, the Irish Para Dressage team of Helen Kearney, Breda Bernie, Geraldine Savage and Kate Kerr Hogan finished fourth of ten teams in the Dressage Nations' Cup at Deauville in France, with Britain securing the trophy.
