SHOW JUMPING - LYNCH AND KURTEN IN THE MONEY AT MECHELEN

IRELAND'S Denis Lynch and Jessica Kurten both scored top five finishes at the last World Cup show of 2012 at Mechehen in Belgium today (Thursday).

Tipperary-born Lynch and Flaminia Straumann's bay gelding Twister S collected 1125 euro for a third place in the five-star competition against the clock, failing to match the time of British winner Guy Williams and Bijou van de Vijfheide by five seconds.

Kurten, born in Antrim but currently based outside Paris, took a 1,000 euro fourth place tonight in the ladies-only Queen's Cup with the VDL Stud stallion Arezzo VDL, and though one of just seven to qualify for the second round from a starting field of 26, trailed Danish winner Tina Lund and A-Dur R by over three seconds.

Mechelen's Rolex World Cup class takes place on Sunday afternoon.
