SHOW JUMPING - O'CONNOR CLAIMS ANOTHER WIN AND
A THIRD PLACE AT LONDON'S OLYMPIA
MEATH-based Cian O'Connor added to his laurels and his prize pot at London's Olympia today (Friday) with his second win at the Christmas show, and then added a third place for good measure.
The Irish Olympic individual bronze medallist, who was second to go in the seven horse Santa Stakes jump-off, once again demolished the hopes of his challengers with a super-fast round on Ahmed Tolba's gelding Splendor, and could not be caught by the five top international riders who followed him, leaving his 6,000 euro winner's prize unchallenged.
Splendor had also produced the goods for O'Connor in Thursday night's feature class, netting him just under 3,000 euro with over two seconds in hand at the finish.
Tonight the 33 year-old also claimed a third place in the Christmas Tree Stakes with his own Irish Sport Horse mare ISHD Dual Star, failing by just over a second to catch the eventual winner, Britain's Ben Maher with Milena, but adding another 1500 euro to his haul so far at the prestige English show.
O'Connor will line out on Saturday afternoon for the World Cup class at Olympia, where he will be once again up against some of the world's top talent.
