SHOW JUMPING - SPLAINE NAMES TEAM FOR TONIGHT'S CANADIAN NATIONS CUP CLASH
SHANE Sweetnam and Amaretto Darco will be pathfinder for the Irish team contesting tonight's (Saturday) Nations' Cup at the five-star Spruce Meadows show in Canada.
The team, which has just been announced by Ireland's show jumping team manager Robert Splaine, will see Jennifer Crooks and SF Uryadi enter the arena as second rider, followed by Andrew Bourns and the Irish Sport Horse Roundthorn Madios, while anchorman is Shane Breen with the Irish Sport Horse Cos I Can.
Ireland has been drawn sixth of nine teams competing, and the competition starts at 9pm Irish time.
Breen has already had several successes at Spruce Meadows, starting with a fifth place aboard the nine year-old Balloon on the show's opening day on Wednesday, and followed this up with a fourth in the following day's jump off on board the same horse. Andrew Bourns and Roundthorn Madios also took a sixth place in the competition.
Tipperary's Breen also placed third with Balloon in last night's Six Bar competition, and then followed with a third on Cos I Can in the Encana Cup jump-off.
