Twomey and Lynch make podium in Spain as Allen finishes 7th in Geneva Top Ten Final

IRISH riders featured at the business end of affairs in today's (Friday) five-star meetings in Geneva, Switzerland, and La Coruna, Spain.
At La Coruna, Tipperary's Denis Lynch kicked off the Irish placings by netting third spot with a clear in 66.96 in the afternoon speed class on board Blue Silver. Billy Twomey and Tinka's Serenade also left all obstacles intact in this event, but were ruled out of the placings by incurring 2 time faults. Belgium's Jerome Guery on Grand Cru van de Rosenberg took the contest in 65.85.
There was better to come for Corkman Twomey as he went on to take third place in this evening's 1m60 class at the Spanish venue, when he partnered Tin Tin to the podium with a double clear in 37.88. The event was won by France's Julian Epaillard, who got Cristallo ALM home in 34.52. Denis Lynch and All Star just missed the cut for the jump-off with a single time-fault.
At Geneva's big five-star show Bertram Allen finished 7th in the Rolex Top Ten Final with Molly Malone V. Allen's opening clear round saw him slot into second place amongst the highest ranked riders in the world at the halfway stage. In round two, American Kent Farrington on Voyeur was first to post a double-clear and Allen pulled out all the stops to catch his fast time but tipped a pole in the process to end up in 7th place overall. Farrington's time proved good enough for overall victory.
