Show Jumping - Twomey Fifth in Leipzig Qualifier, Irish also Score in Netherlands
AHEAD of Sunday's World Cup competition at the five star show in Leipzig, Germany, Ireland's Billy Twomey booked himself an advantageous starting position with a fifth place in the qualifier tonight (Friday).
The 36 year-old Cork rider, piloting Sue Davies's 17 year-old mare Tinka's Serenade, also took 5,000 euro in prize money for his place, jumping a clear round that left him four seconds off the scorching pace set by French star Kevin Staut and Silvana HDC, who took home the winner's prize of a 30,000 euro car.
At the three-star competition at Drachten in the Netherlands tonight, Ireland earned another fifth place when Mayo's Alex Duffy and Cameron Hanley's gelding Living The Dream also went double clear in the feature competition, while on Thursday Claremorris rider Hanley himself took a second place with Eleonore Paschoud & Yves Bouvier's Antello Z in the evening's speed class.
