THREE IRISH WINS ON THE BOARD AS EUROPEAN WEEKEND ACTION KICKS OFF
IRISH riders recorded three wins in the first 24 hours of this weekend's show jumping in Europe.
At the four-star show in Hagen, Germany, Tipperary's Denis Lynch scored back-to-back victories on Thursday night and Friday with Flaminia Straumann's chestnut gelding Night Train, while former pony gold medallist Bertram Allen continued his rise in the ranks with a two-star win at Antwerp aboard Billy Twomey's mare Wild Thing.
Twomey himself took a third place in the four-star BMW Masters competition at Antwerp with the mare Wings Sublieme, losing out by a single fence to Belgian winner Gregory Wathelet and Desteny vh Dennehof. The Cork rider also took a sixth place in the 1m40 speed class on Thursday on his own Molly Malone V, with Mark McAuley claiming fourth on Kerball.
Grands Prix at both venues take place on Sunday.
