Townend Claims Double in Ballindenisk

Star studded international event last weekend in Ballindenisk where Oliver Townend claimed a double in the CCI** and CIC*** riding the Irish Sport Horses Cooley Master Class and Douglas respectively. Second and third in the CIC*** were Irish Badminton bound riders Sam Watson with Horseware Bushman and Joseph Murphy with Electric Cruise. Ballindenisk saw the international stars of eventing Zara Phillips (GBR) and Tina Cook (GBR) compete in the Cork venue. Camilla Speirs and BT Border Bandit (ISH) were victorious in the CIC** with Ciaran Glynn and November Night (ISH) winning the CIC*. In the junior Section Harold Megahey took first place riding Cuckellberry, with Nessa Briody winning the CNCP** riding Rathnaleen Dark Secret bred by Michael Grace. 

The Irish Pony team claimed joint third position in the CSIOP Nations Cup in Fontainebleau the team consisted of Susan Fitzpatrick/Rock Dee, Matt Garrigan/Dr Spot, Killian Norris/Javas Alun & Michael Pender/Blackwoodland Rock .Rachel Houston claimed the first Irish win of the weekend in the CSIOP 1.25m riding her mount Blessington Grange Mist, Cian Collins was victorious in the 6 year old young pony class with his mount Carnhill Suzy, While Tim MacDonagh won leading male CSIP rider at Fontainebleau.

Meanwhile at the CSI3* show in Lummen (BEL) Joan Greene claimed the first Irish win of the show with her mount Abbey Colleen (ISH) in the 1.30m Jump Off with Dermott Lennon and Calgot Pleasure (ISH) claiming 6^th in the same class. Irish riders then claimed 2^nd and 3^rd position in the 1.35m Jump Off with Joan Greene placed 2^nd with Diamonds for Douglas (ISH) and Denis Lynch 3^rd with Anyway. Trevor Coyle placed 2^nd in the 1.45m Jump Off on Sunday riding Clever Lady.  Denis Lynch ended the weekend with a win in the 1.35m against the clock riding Offenbach du Granit, Alexander Butler finished second to Denis riding No More Talk (ISH).
