WORLD CUP POINTS AT STAKE FOR IRELAND AT LEIPZIG
WORLD Cup points are at stake in Leipzig, Germany this weekend, when Denis Lynch, Billy Twomey and Trevor Coyle line out for Ireland at the five-star show.
Of the trio, Tipperary-born Denis Lynch is best positioned in the World Cup rankings, currently holding second place behind Swedish leader Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, while Cork's Billy Twomey will be hoping to improve on his 39th place in Sunday's Grand Prix, which starts at lunchtime. Derry's Trevor Coyle is further down the World Cup rankings, in equal 63rd.
In Amsterdam's four-star show, Antrim-born Jessica Kurten and Tipperary's Shane Breen will take part in the international classes from Friday onwards, both riders hoping to qualify for Sunday's Grand Prix.
Meanwhile in Florida, Meath's Cian O'Connor flies the Irish flag at Wellington's two star show, alongside US-based Irish riders Darragh Kerins, Shane Sweetnam, Richie Moloney, Darragh Kenny and Andrew Bourns, with the Grand Prix taking place at midnight on Saturday, Irish time. Also at Wellington, Ireland's James Dwyer competes in three star Para Dressage.
Elsewhere, Kilkenny's Marion Hughes will hope to continue her profitable Middle East run at Ghantoot in the United Arab Emirates alongside Michael Hutchinson.
