Horseback Riders Enjoy the Beach near Atlantic City, NJ

The Press of Atlantic City reported that the town of Wildwood, New Jersey, officially opened their beach to horseback riders last week.

The town passed a new ordinance which allows riders to enjoy the beach with their horses during the winter off-season.  The idea was to raise some funds by selling  permits to the riders between October and April when the beach is only lightly used.

They hope to attract more people to the town during the off season and stimulate some additional horse-related activities to encourage even more visitors to local businesses and restaurants.

Both the riders and town commissioners were thrilled with the experience and the horses were excited too.  Commissioner Tony Leonetti took a spin on one of the horses and told the Pressofatlanticcity.com, "It was awesome."
