Horses Healing Hearts Receives a New Home Away From Home In a Donated 40-foot RV

Wellington, FL-  The kids at Horses Healing Hearts have received a new home away from home. They've needed a "supplement to the sponsor barns that have been the "life blood" of their operation for the kids looking for a refuge from the daily turmoil of parents with substance abuse. The children at Horses Healing Hearts (HHH) will now be able to indulge in place to call their own-a 40-foot RV. This secondary outlet is nothing short of a miracle for the volunteers and children, finally having a secure area to hang artwork, discuss their feelings, and relax as they enjoy their weekend sessions with HHH.

"Although we are very thankful to the sponsor barns that have been and continue to be the back bone of our program we struggled with privacy and storage at some barns as our program grew, we figured a trailer would be a great fit to solve that problem," commented Karina Brez, Honorary Chair for HHH and Miss Florida USA 2012.

It was due to the generosity of a private donor that HHH is now able to enjoy the 40-foot RV, arranged by Copley's RV. The nonprofit organization began looking for a new RV about two months ago, and after attending a trade show at the South Florida Fairgrounds, they were slightly discouraged after speaking to vendors about the possibilities of an RV donation. Mark Hill, a salesman from Copley's RV, told HHH that they may not get a new RV donated, but they would be able to find greater possibilities within the realms of consignment.

Three days later, Liz Olszewski, Founder of Horses Healing Hearts, learned that Copley's RV had worked on their behalf to arrange a deal with a private donor for a 2001 40-foot RV to the organization. "It was a little bigger than we were expecting, but big is good," said Olszewski.

The family who donated the RV delivered the vehicle to the Wellington sponsor barn after doing some maintenance work and repairs to it. The RV, once a vehicle for family trips, is now a new place for the kids at HHH to call their own.

"It is great to see them take ownership and pride in it. They have a nice bathroom, a place to hang up their artwork, store games; we have even kitchen even A/C. It's like a little house. They want to keep it clean. - hopefully that lasts!" remarked Olszewski.

Every weekend, HHH holds sessions at their respective sponsor barns. At Horses Healing Hearts, children learn skills like setting boundaries, teamwork, dealing with their emotions, the importance of routines and how to minimize risk around horses as well as in their daily lives.  Each weekend, they learn to groom and tack up a horse, and each child receives a 15-minute private riding lesson.  While some are riding, others are led through a weekly curriculum about coping skills and boundaries.

Copley's RV in Hobe Sound, FL, will be the Platinum Sponsor for the Horses Healing Hearts White, White West Party, being held on Friday, February 22, 2013, at 7 p.m. at The Players Club.
