Interscholastic Equestrian Association Participates in the Time To Ride Challenge

Cleveland Heights, Ohio --- The Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA), is participating in the Time To Ride Challenge through August 31, 2014, in an effort to spread the awareness of the benefits of horses and horse activities.

Time to Ride is a national campaign created by the American Horse Council to promote the preservation of all segments of the equine industry by connecting American families with local equine businesses.  The Time To Ride Challenge is a contest challenging professionals, in the equine industry, to host events in which they expose individuals that have not previously been involved with the horses to a variety of activities that involve horses and ponies.

"We are thrilled that the Interscholastic Equestrian Association is rallying their members to participate in the 100 Day Horse Challenge.  Young people sharing their horses with friends is a great way to grow our horse industry." stated Patti Colbert, marketing manager for the Time To Ride Challenge.

"The Time To Ride Challenge is a great way for our members to share their passion for horses", Roxane Lawrence, founder and executive director of the IEA, said about the program.  "We see the benefit of equine sports every day in our own members.  The IEA, with its nearly 10,000 members, is excited at the prospect of being able to help the American Horse Council reach their goal of introducing 100,000 new people to horses."

The members of the IEA will host events for individuals new to the horse industry by offering a variety of activities in which a live horse is present.  The hope is for each IEA member to bring one friend to a barn and acquaint them with a horse and/or equestrian activity.  "This is a great way to spark interest in people who have never considered spending time with a horse," said Lawrence.

Founded in 2002, the IEA was organized to promote and improve the quality of equestrian competition and instruction available to middle and secondary school students. Its purpose is to set minimum standards for competition, provide information concerning the creation and development of school associated equestrian sport programs, to generally promote the common interests of safe riding instruction and competition and education on matters related to equestrian competition at the middle and secondary school levels.
