Jockey Found Dead in Car Faced Cocaine Charges

Recent news of the sudden and unexpected death of 24-year-old jockey Michael Baze has brought much shock and grief to the racing community; now new reports say Baze had been depressed and facing cocaine charges.
Court reports state that Baze was scheduled for a preliminary hearing regarding a first-degree cocaine possession charge from November.
According to close friends, Baze had also been depressed over a recent separation with his wife.
The Jefferson County coroner is conducting an autopsy and toxicology exam to determine the jockey's cause of death. Police do not suspect foul play at this time.
