Yann Candele Wins 2012 Jump Canada Cup
Ottawa, ON - Yann Candele of Caledon, ON, won the 2012 Jump Canada Cup riding Game Ready, Susan Grange's 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding.
Candele had a late start in the season collecting points but quickly made up for it by scoring three huge victories in a row to secure his spot at the top of the standings. Candele earned 504 points for his win in the $25,000 Open Welcome at the Orangeville International. At the Canadian Show Jumping Tournament, in Palgrave, ON, the pair also won the $35,000 Caledon Cup Phase 2 for 864 points. The last competition of the 2012 Jump Canada Cup, Candele and Game Ready sealed their conquest of the series with a win in the $50,000 Grand Prix of Rockwood presented by NG Stone for an additional 900 points, finishing with a total of 2268 points.
"I am really pleased to have the honour of winning the Jump Canada Cup," said Candele, who, along with Game Ready, has had quite the season. "It is certainly a nice way to finish the show season in Canada."
During a presentation held on Friday, November 9, at the Royal Horse Show's evening performance, Candele received a trophy, sponsored by Jump Canada.
With 2224 points, Francois Lamontagne of St-Eustache, QC and Unik Circa, Sarah Lemieux's 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, finished in second place.
Rounding out the top three in the Jump Canada Cup was Tiffany Fong of Calgary, AB and Robert Jack's 18-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, Black Ice, with 2176 points.
With 108 horse rider combinations collecting points in 36 classes across Canada, the Jump Canada Cup is a national jumper circuit with high standards of competition across the country.
