JustWorld Announces the Launch of the 2013 Team Challenge
Wellington, FL -
JustWorld International, the not-for-profit, humanitarian organization which funds life-changing nutrition, health and hygiene, education, and leadership and cultural development programs for impoverished children in Cambodia, Honduras, Guatemala, and Brazil, is thrilled to announce the start of its brand new JustWorld Team Challenge. Over the next five months, three teams made up of JustWorld Ambassadors each will work to raise $50,000 and, in the process, receive recognition for reaching special milestones. Keep your eyes and ears open to see what your local Teams will be doing to meet their achievements.
The official Team Challenge launch parties will take place in mid-January at Belle Herbe Farm in Wellington, FL, for the East Coast teams, and Alex and Ani's San Francisco store in CA, for the West Coast Ambassadors.
Alex and Ani, Inc. the eco-friendly, positive energy lifestyle brand that around the globe has become synonymous with the quality and innovation associated with "made in America," has stepped up to help make JustWorld's 2013 Team Challenge an unprecedented success. Under the direction of its philanthropic division, Charity by Design, the Rhode Island-based company will transform its launch party into a Charmed by Charity event designed to bring people together to shop, socialize, and share their positive energy with the world.
In addition, Alex and Ani will deliver a portion of all launch party sales directly to JustWorld International.

Each team represents a country in which JustWorld works (including, for this event, Cambodia, Guatemala, Honduras). The shared goal is to raise funds for JustWorld's innovative social development projects. Join or support your favorite team today. Getting involved in the Team Challenge is your chance to raise more awareness about JustWorld projects among Ambassadors, supporters and communities as a whole. This is going to be one of the most influential and exciting ambassador movements yet.
The Team Challenge began January 1st and will run until May 31, 2013. Each team is led by two co-captains -one based on the West Coast and one based at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. The teams are comprised of JustWorld Ambassadors consisting of Juniors, Amateurs, Professionals and Technical Officials.
Over the five-month event, each team will raise awareness and funds by utilizing e-mail, phones and social media to capture the technology of today, and in so doing raise awareness across the board within new communities. Each team has created its own Facebook group or event page, and many of them will provide up-to-date information with their blogs, Twitter and Instagram posts. There is no limit to the amount of creativity these teams will provide in support of the mission to spread the word about JustWorld.
Sara Abdi and Ali Lieberman will represent team Honduras. These co-captains are raising awareness for the second poorest country in Central America. Honduras suffers from extraordinarily unequal distribution of income and high unemployment. Since 2009, Honduras has become the country with the highest rate of intentional homicides in the world. JustWorld has worked throughout Honduras to address the education, health and nutrition of children in impoverished communities. JustWorld currently works with local Nongovernmental Organization (NGO) Compartir to bring education and social development to children through the mobile library, which reaches 5,000 children in slums around Tegucigalpa. To reach out to the West Coast co-captain Sara Abdi, please e-mail Sarah.Abdi@alphastarcorp.com. You can also reach out to Ali Lieberman athunterjumper324@comcast.net for East Coast representation.
Guatemala is an impoverished Latin American country, where three quarters of the country lives below the poverty line. For Guatemalan children, this means many of them do not have access to health care, proper nutrition or education. JustWorld partners with NGO Los Patojos to establish a safe learning environment for more than 180 children in the dangerous community of Jocotenango. With West Coast co-captain Morgan Dickerson ( mdickerson123@yahoo.com) and East Coast co-captain Kira Kerkorian (kkerkorian@gmail.com), Team Guatemala will work to raise funds to continue scholarships to attend school, educational reinforcement lessons, and access to a healthy community kitchen and free medical clinic.
Team Cambodia is working conscientiously to bring attention to the South East Asian country. Cambodia is still recovering from the national trauma of Pol Pot's brutal regime and genocide roughly 35 years ago. The country now struggles with a lack of free education and extreme poverty, particularly in rural areas where 92 percent of the impoverished population lives. JustWorld partnered with the People Improvement Organization in Phnom Penh to address this problem and has built two schools and funds the education of 650 children. Madison Bradshaw on the West Coast is working in tandem with East Coast co-captain Max Beaumont to continue their quest to raise awareness and funds.
