The German team will not be including Matthias Rath and Totilas in the 2012 Olympic dressage arena or Ludger Beerbaum in the jumper ring.

According to a report in Eurodressage, "The 27-year old Matthias is suffering from mononucleosis (glandular fever) and has not recovered sufficiently from the disease. He recently sustained a relapse in his condition. He will not be fit to ride his horse at the Games. Also know as Pfeiffer disease, glandular fever is a debilitating illness caused by the Epstein–Barr virus."

In addition, Germany's Ludger Beerbaum will not be competing in the jumper ring.

The former Olympic champion ruled himself out of contention for the Games. After picking up 15 faults in a warm up class at the  CHIO Aachen on the 11-year-old Gotha, he decided the mare wasn't ready to compete at the Olympics.
