Stallion Parade at Badminton
Building on the stringent biosecurity measures after the recent but now contained local outbreak of
Equine Herpes Virus (EHV -1), Badminton Horse Trials Organisers are taking further
precautionary steps.
The need is to guarantee that as far as possible that there will be no close contact between the elite
competition horses in the International Three Day Event and any other horses in Badminton Park.
Sadly this means that the normal Stallion Parade organised by Sport Horse Breeding of Great
Britain, due in the main arena after dressage on Saturday 4th May, will not now take place.
The stallions would have to warm up for their ridden Display and use the same Collecting Ring
and surrounding facilities as the event horses. Even after the dressage has finished there are many
event horses still in the area, using the practice jumps or otherwise being exercised.
We fully intend that the Stallion Display will return in 2014. All other activities will continue as
planned, albeit with enhanced precautionary measures where appropriate.
