As Winter Circuits End, Riders Keep Focus on NAL Year-End Finals

Riders continue to earn points for year-end finals in Harrisburg and Las Vegas

 

 

Annville, PA – The winter circuits may be over, but riders still have lots of time left to earn points to help them qualify for the North American League (NAL) year end finals.

The NAL offers six divisions including Children’s Hunters and Jumpers, Adult Hunters and Jumpers, Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumpers, and Pony Jumpers (east coast only). The NAL gives riders in these divisions a chance to ride in year-end finals at two major indoor shows – The NAL National Finals at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show at Harrisburg, October 10-19, and the NAL West Coast Finals at the Las Vegas National Horse Show, November 12-17.

 

The NAL qualifying period runs September 1 through August 31. NAL competitions are open to all who wish to compete, however points only count for current members. There is still plenty of time for competitors to earn the points needed to qualify for both year-end finals.

 

Through the end of March, the Adult Hunter division, Presented by Practical Horseman, was being led by Amy Zettler of Aldie, VA and Glad Rags with 1814 points. In second place was Mindy Wurzburg of Memphis, TN and Overseas with 1670 points. In third place was Kevin Foster of Brookeville, MD and Ufonia P with 1582 points.            

 

In the Children's Hunter division, Megan Taylor Rosenthal of Charlotte, NC and Cool Music continued to hold the first spot with 2609 points. In second place was Emma Fass of Newport News, VA and Son of a Sailor with 1686 points. In third place was Victoria Flagg of Great Falls, VA and Luigi with 1654 points.  

 

In the Adult Jumper division, Presented by SmartPak, Alissa Kinsey of Danville, NH andGrisset were in first place with 2633 points. Leigh Cofer of Canton, GA and Camera Ready were in second place with 2150 points. Elizabeth Clark LaMotte of West Grove, PA and Spitfire moved into third place with 1775 points.

 

The Children’s Jumper division was led by Kimberle Paige Burton of Huntersville, NC and Kolette with 2501 points. In second place was Annie Bolling of Fairhope, AL andOfrenda with 1760 points. In third place was Grace Knox of N. Barrington, IL andRapidash with 1673 points.

 

In the Low Junior/Amateur Owner division, Madeline Thatcher of Bluffdale, UT andEsquilino Bay were in first place with 2864 points.  In second place was Kate Morrison of Dublin, OH and Vaillant with 2474 points. In third place was Brett Burlington of Coral Gables, FL and T Is Picobello Z with 2046 points.

 

In the Pony Jumper Division, Emilie Rucci of Pittstown, NJ and I Spy A Rainbow were in first place with 246 points. Elizabeth Monaco of Oak Ridge, NJ and EZ To Spot were in second place with 230 points. Julianna Empie of Chester Springs, PA and Northwind’s Opus were in third place with 179.50 points.

 

On the West Coast, the competition was heating up. The Adult Hunter Division, Presented by Practical Horseman, was being led by Margaret Anderson of The Woodlands, TX and Endeavor with 570 points. The West Coast Children’s Hunter division was being led by Mallory Hensley of Yukon, OK and Van Gough with 1495 points.

 

In the West Coast Adult Jumper Division, Presented by SmartPak, Jennifer Elliot of Oceanside, CA and Vancouver were in first place with 1025 points. Alexandra Worthington of Las Vegas, NV and Manchester were in the lead for the West Coast Children’s Jumper division. Madeline Thatcher was in first place for the West Coast Low Junior/Amateur Owner division as well aboard Esquilino Bay with 1672 points.
