Riders Look To Summer Horse Shows To Accumulate Points In
The North American League
Annville, PA - With the winter circuit completed, riders have begun to set their sights on the summer circuit horse shows with the hopes of amassing enough points to qualify for the prestigious North American League finals.
The North American League (NAL) offers a great opportunity for competitors across the country to compete in five divisions including Children's Hunter; Children's Jumper, Presented by EquiFit; Adult Hunter; Adult Jumper, Presented by SmartPak; and Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper, Presented by Horse Sport International. Riders and horses compete all year in order to qualify for National Finals at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show and the West Coast Finals at the Las Vegas National Horse Show.
The qualifying period for the NAL runs from September 1 through August 31 and anyone can compete in NAL qualifying classes. However, only current members are awarded points. Joining the NAL is the best way to ensure that you get the points necessary to make it to the finals and annual memberships are only $40 per rider.
As of mid-May, Nancy Hooker of Wellington, FL and her horse Corianos Boy led the Adult Jumper, Presented by SmartPak, with 4,207 points, followed closely by Laura Sexton of Greenwich, CT with 3,888 points aboard Jessy Du Breau in second place. In third place was Lucy Mitchell-Innes of New York, NY and Riley II with 2,842 points.
The West Coast Adult Jumper, Presented by SmartPak, was led by Emily Straw-Colella of Overland Park, KS and Filibuster with 2,045 points. In second place was Julie Vorthman of Union, MO aboard Javert V with 953 points, while third place was held by Tatiana Eagles and her mount Shock with 862 points.
Taegan Long of Medford, NJ and Pocahontas led the Children's Jumper, Presented by EquiFit, with 3,523 points, followed by Tyler Mayer of McKinney, TX and Windeline with 2,061 points in second. Sara Dees of Long Beach, MS and her horse Talula held the third position with 2,019 points.
Tyler Mayer of McKinney, TX and Windeline led the West Coast Children's Jumper, Presented by EquiFit, with 2,061 points, followed by Megan Hilton of Seattle, WA, and Kilconnel Cruise with 991 points for second place. Isabel Coleman of New Orleans, LA and Pistol took third with 978 points.
Cloe Hymowitz of New York, NY and Bon Vivant led the Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper, Presented by Horse Sport International, with an impressive 7,784 points. Her younger sister Lili Hymowitz and Little Lady D'Elle took second with 4,296 points, and Heather Hooker of Wellington, FL and Perle held third place with 3,866 points.
The West Coast Low Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper, Presented by Horse Sport International, had Genevieve Meyer of Rancho Santa Fe, CA and her mount Coral Reef Wise Guy with 2,046 points. Emma Boyce of New Orleans, LA and Kalinero Du Galete followed in second place with 1,370 points. Rounding out the top three was Emily Sheveland of Delafield, WI and Lyla with 1,140 points.
Brooke Cole of Rockville, VA led the Adult Hunter division with 4,201 points aboard Poetic Justis, while Marissa Sterba of Mundelein, IL held second place with 3,283 points with her horse Sea Smoke. In third place was Mindy Wurzburg of Memphis, TN and Overseas with 2,732 points.
Cheryl Rubenstein of Bellaire, TX and her mount Riesling led the West Coast Adult Hunter division with 1,726 points. In second place was Mary Grossman of Burlington, WI aboard Benvolio with 1,304 points. Following closely behind in third place with 1,219 points was Stephanie Goodson of Beverly Hills, CA with Leonetti.
Alyssa Scholefield of Atlanta, GA and Moon River topped the Children's Hunter division with 2,790 points, while Aizlynn Radwanski of Mohnton, PA and Cute Date were in second place with 2,148 points. In third place with 2,100 points was Caroline Wilson of Germantown, TN and Nose Better.
Sarah Portell of Chesterfield, MO and Cheveaux led the West Coast Children's Hunter division with 1,110 points, while second place was held by Mary Otto of St. Louis, MO and Dakota with 1,030 points. Sophia Stouse of New Orleans, LA and her horse Elder were in third place with 950 points.
