25-year-old Kim Pullon was thrown from her horse into a tree on 22 January, resulting in a fractured skull and broken neck. Doctors warned Pullon to rest for at least six months before attempting to begin her pentathlon training for the 2012 Olympics once again. However, Pullon had different ideas.
Now just barely three months after her fall and still suffering from a neck that is not completely healed, Pullon is back in the saddle, training for her events. She admits that a fall at this point could be devastating, but she hasn't let a fear of the unknown hold her back.
In Pullon's pentathlon, she must compete in swimming, horseback riding, fencing, and a combined running and shooting event.
