A Lesson in Anatomy at the PATH Intl. Horse Expo in Washington

Denver– The Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.), formerly NARHA, is pleased to announce that equine clinician Susan Harris and centered riding clinician Peggy Brown will present “The Visible Horse and Rider: Anatomy in Motion” at the 2012 PATH Intl. Horse Expo in Bellevue, WA, November 3. The Horse Expo is part of the PATH Intl. Conference, which takes place October 31 through November 3.

Biomechanics applies the laws of physics and mechanics to human movement in order to gain a greater understanding of performance. It grants us an understanding of physical principles such as motion, resistance, momentum and friction. In this unique visual presentation of the biomechanics of the horse and rider, attendees will gain a better understanding of how the horse and rider move and what is needed to balance the two. On one side of the horse, Susan will paint the horse’s muscular system and on the other side the skeletal system. After reviewing the horse biomechanics, Peggy will ride the horse wearing a suit depicting the human skeleton, showing the biomechanics of the rider working with the horse.

There are many other informative sessions during the week in several tracks, including Mental Health & Learning, Veteran Programs, Innovate, Research and Equine Health and Well-Being. The conference promises to be one of the best and is a great way to learn about the equine-assisted activities and therapies field as well as network with industry experts.
