by  RCMP - Story: 74546 Apr 30, 2012 / 1:33 pm

An unusual sight caused caught the eye of an RCMP officer in Lumby on April 15.
An intoxicated woman was slumped over a saddleless horse on Highway 6 near Dure Meadow Road.
Cpl. H Proce says it's not often police have to deal with horse thieves in this day and age.
"The officer had his hands full dealing with the woman with one hand and the horse with the other.  Fortunately, some locals came to the rescue and took control of the horse."
The woman was arrested at the scene and taken to Vernon cells.
Proce says a short time later police received a call from a nearby ranch, that their horse was missing.
"The animal was safely returned to the proper owners."
The suspect, who is well known to police, has been charged with one count of theft under $5000.
