Road to the Horse Wild Cards Announced

Road to the Horse owner and producer Tootie Bland is known for creating a spectacular event, full of surprises and fans at Road to the Horse 2013 will witness the biggest surprise yet. After much anticipation and an exhausting application process, Bland is excited to announce the Road to the Horse Wild Cards.

After Road to the Horse 2013 competitors Guy McLean, Sarah Winters, Dan James and Obbie Schlom select their colts for the competition; the successful Wild Card applicants will then make their selection from the AQHA Remuda from the 6666 Ranch. From Kentucky, the Wild Cards will take their chosen mounts home, where they will spend the following year building a partnership and continuing their training, until Road to the Horse 2014.

In 2014, these 6666 Ranch raised colts will then return to Road to the Horse with their trainers, where they will compete for the title of Wild Card Champion. The Wild Card Champion will then immediately step into the Road to the Horse 2014 round pen, where they will have a once in a life-time opportunity to compete for the World Championship of Colt Starting title.

When the chance became available to step into the Road to the Horse round pen, the talent was overwhelming, but only a select few could be accepted. The Wild cards are:

James Anderson of Strathmore, Alberta Canada

Trevor Carter of Farwell, Texas

James Cooler of Summerfield, North Carolina

Jon Ensign of Belgrade, Montana

Mary Kitzmiller of Kemp, Texas

Kerry Kuhn  of Pratt, Kansas

Sean Patrick of New Smyrna Beach, Florida

Adam Tarpley of Merkel, Texas

These eight Wild Cards will begin their journey in Kentucky next month at Road to the Horse 2013, fans will get the chance to meet them and wish them luck. Road to the Horse fans will also have the opportunity to follow the progress of these Wild Cards and their 6666 Ranch colts via the Road to the Horse website and Facebook page.

The Wild Card Competition was designed to showcase undiscovered clinicians who have the talent to capture a World Championship of Colt Starting title, and this is one twist to the competition that will keep us on the edge of our seats until Road to the Horse 2014.
