Springer and Fredericks Claim DuBarry Boots at Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Presented by Bridgestone

Allison Springer and Clayton Fredericks have won the first awards to be presented at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Bridgestone. At Wednesday evening’s welcome reception, they each earned a new pair of DuBarry boots as the best-dressed female and male riders at the first horse inspection, held on Wednesday morning.

Danny Hulse of DuBarry presented the waterproof boots to them.

Fredericks, 43, an Australian who lives in England, won the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event in 2007 on Ben Along Time, and his wife, Lucinda, won in 2009 on Headley Britannia.

Springer, 36, of Marshall, Va., is riding two horses this weekend—Arthur and Destination Known.

This reception, held at historic Spindletop Hall outside of Lexington, was a particularly rewarding one for Springer, because she also won the annual drawing among the competitors for a Rolex watch. This watch is one of two signature watches given each year by the event’s title sponsor—the winner receives the second watch on Sunday afternoon. No rider has yet won both watches in the same year.

This year, the Ariat Kentucky Reining Cup is making its debut alongside the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event and it will feature the world’s best reiners including the four members of the Gold Medal team from last year’s Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, all of whom are entered to compete.

The Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event is part of the HSBC FEI ClassicsTM and features the world’s best horses and riders vying for their share of $250,000 in prize money as well as a shot at the $350,000 Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing which is awarded to any rider who wins the Rolex Kentucky, Mitsubishi Motors Badminton and Land Rover Burghley Four Star Events in succession.
