New England Dressage Association Kicks Off Annual Stallion Service Auction To Benefit
United States Breeders

Brookline, NH – The New England Dressage Association (NEDA) Stallion Auction is underway, kicking off the 2012 breeding season by giving bidders the chance to bid on some of the top stallions in the country. The NEDA Stallion Auction, the financial foundation for the NEDA Sporthorse Program, started January 15th and will end Saturday, February 18th at 9 p.m.

“The goal of the NEDA Sporthorse program is to not only increase dressage breeding education, but to also encourage young horse showing. Our country is now breeding top quality dressage horses that are comparable, or even better, than horses bred in Europe. Our auction is a fantastic way for us to provide the best horses for our riders in the United States,” said Kathy Hickerson, NEDA Sporthorse Director. “The stallion auction team has been working hard to recruit donations from the best stallions in the country. I encourage everyone to visit our NEDA Stallion Auction website and look at our amazing list of available stallions.”

While the NEDA Stallion Auction provides access to top stallions at a good price, there are also far reaching benefits for breeders and NEDA competitors. “The proceeds from the auction go towards breeder scholarships for continuing education and $11,500 worth of cash awards at the NEDA Fall Festival USDF Breed Show and Series Championship in Saugerties, NY,” Hickerson said, adding that it also includes a $5,400 Breed Futurity, a $2,400 Born in America and $2,100 NEDA Sweepstakes. “The money is awarded to the owner, breeder and stallion owner. Offspring from the auction stallions are eligible for the NEDA Fall Show $5,400 Futurity.”

Through the NEDA Scholarship program, NEDA members who volunteer can apply for scholarships for continuing education that helps teach how to make better breeding decisions which in turn provides better opportunities for American riders to find their next Grand Prix horse, bred in the United States.

“We have a fantastic USDF New England Breed show series lined up this year to help our breeders and owners get their horses out,” Hickerson said. “The NEDA Sporthorse Sweepstakes helps to reward the horses and shows at all of our participating shows. If you’re a breeder, or thinking about breeding, we need your support by bidding in the NEDA Stallion auction.”

A complete list of available stallions can be found on the NEDA Stallion Auction website at www.nedastallionauction.org. The auction ends February 18th at 9 pm. The 2012 NEDA Stallion Service Auction also has a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/events. To learn more about NEDA, visit their website at www.neda.org.
