Sporting Royal Wedding: Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall prepare for Celebration in Edinburgh

Source:  Various

Top level competitors  from two vastly different sports are completing final preparations for their wedding tomorrow.  This would normally figure on the sports pages of the news, but this time, the bride is also the Queen's granddaughter which puts these particular nuptials on the front page.

Zara Phillips, daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband Captain Mark Phillips, is a world championship level eventing rider.

She is a former European Champion  (both Team and Individual Gold, riding Toytown, 2005, and Team Gold, 2007).  She also won the World Championship at Aachen (Team Silver and Individual Gold, riding Toytown, 2006).  Injuries to Toytown kept her off Olympic teams at both Beijing/Hong Kong and Athens.

Her groom is Mike Tindall who is a star at top level international rugby.  He was introduced to his future bride by her cousin Prince Harry at the 2003 rugby World Cup competition in Australia.

According to the BBC , Senior members of the royal family and sports celebrities are expected to attend the ceremony at Canongate Kirk on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh.  The reception will be held at nearby Holyrood Palace which is the Queen's official residence when she is in Scotland.
