Spruce Meadows March Newsletter

March brings many exciting things, including the first day of spring! Even though the weather isn't necessarily cooperating with the spring season, we have enjoyed a fantastic month in March and are excited about the coming months and all of the future developments at Spruce Meadows.

The March tournaments were a great success with exciting competitions for those competing in 0.50m rounds to those in the 1.40m divisions. Peter Grant (CAN) and Manuel Esparza (MEX) designed challenging and exciting courses for every level of competition and we are so thankful to all of the riders, trainers, volunteers, support crew and fans for coming out over the two weeks of competitions!

As March comes to a close and April arrives, there are several deadlines and important dates to note. In response to athlete demand, Spruce Meadows is introducing two Bronze Level Tournaments to the calendar in April, offering events starting at 0.50m. The 'April Classic I' Tournament runs April 6 & 7 and the closing date for entries is March 26, 2013. The 'April Classic II' Tournament April 27 & 28 will be the first outdoor competition of the year and the closing date for entries is April 16, 2013. Please note that a negative coggins test must accompany entries for all outdoor tournaments. The 'May Classic' Tournament will run three days, from May 3 - 5 and the closing date for entries is April 12.

The Summer Series Prize List is now online and there is an early bird stabling discount of 20% for FULLY COMPLETED entries, if they are received by April 5, 2013. The Closing Date for all Summer Series entries isApril 19, 2013.

In addition to the busy competition month, April will also bring exciting shows hosted at Spruce Meadows. The Calgary Horticultural Garden Show will be held on April 13 & 14, which is the perfect opportunity for fellow plant, flower and tree lovers to come together at Spruce Meadows for the best garden show in Calgary, hosted by the Calgary Horticultural Society. Tickets are available online, or at the door, and parking is always complimentary at Spruce Meadows. The Pet Expo, April 27 & 28 is the ideal event for pet lovers to see hundreds of exhibits and pets, reptile displays, pony rides and more! Tickets are available online or at the door, and parking is complimentary.
