Spruce Meadows 'Masters' Tournament:
Electric Swiss Martin Fuchs Takes the Six Bar Higher

 

 

Another youthful talent, Martin Fuchs, riding with the Swiss flag on his saddle pad, was the only competitor to clear the final fence of the Atco Electric Six Bar tonight at an impressive 1.95 meters.  His horse, the enthusiastic Holsteiner stallion, Conte Della Caccia, celebrated each round with a buck after the final fence.

Three riders tied for second place:  Eugenie Angot of France, Lars Nieberg of Germany, and Shane Breen representing Ireland.

Concluding the Mercedes-Benz Evening of the Horse, the audience was treated to a very special performance:  The Band of the Irish Guards played a carefully orchestrated medley of music to accompany a very special fireworks display.
