Farrington Scores Second Victory taking Suncor Energy Cup;
Germany jumps off to claim successive BMO Nations' Cup

Kent Farrington stymied a Canadian sweep in the Suncor Cup competition this morning.  Again riding the quick and catty Blue Angel, he managed to top Eric Lamaze and Ian Millar in the jump-off.

Eric Lamaze earned a solid second place on one of his new, younger horses.  He's only had 9-year old Quelmec Du Gery for a few months and this is a positive step in establishing a partnership.

Ian Millar was just pipped by 0.15 of a second into third place with Star Power.

The day was notable for its periodic downpours and it poured off and on during both of the classes in the international ring.  The footing held up well considering the deluge but officials slightly changed the course during the Nations' Cup, eliminating the water jump from the second round in order to preserve the turf for tomorrow's class.

Germany, France and Belgium all rode to eight fault scores to tie for first place in the Nations' Cup necessitating a jump-off.  Hans Dieter Dreher laid down the only clear round in the jump-off to claim victory for Germany.

Unfortunately, Lars Nieberg's horse fell during the victory gallop and Nieberg broke his collarbone.  The horse was not injured.
