(SPRUCE MEADOWS, Calgary, AB):
Sixty six of the very best show jumpers in the world began their pre flight arrangements this morning following the conclusion of the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ yesterday. After a relaxing Sunday evening, Spruce Meadows was a very busy place early this morning as tones of equipment and dozens of trucks departed for Calgary International Airport.
This afternoon at 1500hrs MDT the Spruce Meadows charter Boeing 747 will lift off with 66 horses and the in flight crew of veterinarian, groom and flight coordinators for the 9 hour flight to Liege, Belgium. Upon arrival the horse will clear customs and embark to their home stables in Ireland, Great Britain, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Germany and the Netherlands. Included on the flight are the BMO Nations Cup Gold Medal team horses from Germany and the magnificent 11 year old chest nut mare Candy, who carried Pieter Devos to victory in yesterday’s $ 1 million Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping Grand Prix event.
