May 2014 Newsletter - Horses Jump to Give a Leg Up

Spruce Meadows is excited to introduce `Horses Jump to Give a Leg Up.` With Southern Alberta still feeling the effects from last year’s severe flooding Spruce Meadows has selected twenty not-for-profit organizations to create an ingenious design on a life sized fibre glass horse.

These not-for-profits groups, who readily help others, are now in need of assistance. Each organization will be tasked with designing a beautiful piece judged on creativity, spirit and originality. The 20 life sized fibre glass horses will be introduced on Media Day June 3rd, 2014 and will be on display throughout the Spruce Meadows Summer Tournament Season.

These beautiful pieces will be a part of the Parade of Nations on Saturday June 7th, 2014. Each fibre glass piece will be offered for sale on the Spruce Meadows Website to raise funds for each specific organization. Come and cheer on the work of the communities that are in need Saturday June 7th – during our ‘National’ Tournament.

Spruce Meadows Salute to First Responders
Spruce Meadows will be host to the unique displays of the first responders on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of our ‘National’ Tournament (June 4-8). First responders will be present during this time displaying their unique equipment, tactical team divisions and support services. We hope you will join us during the ‘National’ Tournament in recognizing these important first responder agencies. - More information will be available on our website soon!

2014 'National' Tournament
Summer Series is just around the corner, opening the gate for our Summer Tournament Schedule is the ‘National’ Tournament. The Summer Tournaments draw horses, competitors, and guests from around the world. The ‘National’ (June 4-8) has a wide variety of competitions throughout the week and weekend; TCPL Parcours de Chasse and RBC FINANCIAL Grand Prix presented by Rolex (Saturday), ATCO STRUCTURES & LOGISTICS CUP and Nexen Derby (Sunday).

On June 6, 7, & 8 don’t forget to visit our First Responders display and the ‘Horses’ Jump to Give a Leg Up’. Other family activities including, face painting, wagon rides, pony rides and our Superstore playground will also be happening on the grounds during this time.
