Lamaze Hits Stride

(Calgary, AB:)  Of the forty-five starters in the Enbridge Cup, on opening night of the Spruce Meadows “National”, thirteen moved forward to the Jump off. Eric Lamaze (CAN) showed again why he is ranked number one in the current Rolex World Rankings. After the win, Lamaze commented that his mare, a 9 year-old Belgian Warmblood, Coriana van Klapscheut is “fast becoming my 1.50m specialist. This was her 5th international win but her first on North American soil."

While she has competed in the 1.60m with success, she seems to have found her niche in the 1.50m at Spruce Meadows. Coriana van Klapscheut and Lamaze were almost a second faster than speedster Richard Spooner (USA) and his Holstein mare Lady Like. Samantha Buirs, a young rider from Langley, BC placed third on her Dutch Warmblood mare, Total Touch.
