Tampa Equestrian Series Announces Biosecurity Protocols

Tampa, FL - In light of the recent EHV-1 cases in Florida, the Tampa Equestrian Series will be enacting a strict Biosecurity Protocol to ensure the health and safety of all the horses competing at the show. The two-week equestrian event will be held at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, FL. The Tampa Equestrian Series also features the 41st Annual $200,000 Gene Mische American Invitational presented by G & C Farm, held under the lights at Raymond James Stadium on April 6, 2013. The world's top equestrians will come together for Tampa Equestrian Series' two weeks of competition, held from March 27 - April 6, 2013, to vie for the winning titles at this prestigious event.

"Stadium Jumping has always taken a proactive stance when it comes to the safety and security of our horses," said Michael Morrissey, President of Stadium Jumping, Inc. "With the recent incidents of EHV-1 in Florida we want to be particularly vigilant, so we're asking all of our exhibitors to observe proper protocols and to complete the necessary paperwork. We are looking forward to welcoming our competitors to Tampa and we look forward to providing a clean and safe environment."

All competitors must sign the Biosecurity Protocol Form (http://www.stadiumjumping.com/uploads/Biosecurity_Form_Tampa.pdf) before entering the showgrounds. All horses coming in to show must have been vaccinated for the EHV-1 virus within the past 90 days and no sooner than 7 days prior to arrival at the Florida State Fairgrounds. All of the horses must have health certificates drawn within 48 hours of arrival at the Florida State Fairgrounds. All competitors must follow all biosecurity precautions set forth by Stadium Jumping, Inc., the Florida State Fairgrounds and the Florida Department of Agriculture.

In effect until further notice, no horses will be allowed to ship onto the Florida State Fairgrounds without a health certificate dated within 48 hours of arriving. It is mandatory that all horses shipping onto the show grounds arrive between the hours of 8:00am and no later than 5:00pm.

Stadium Jumping, Inc. requests that all barns & stables enact biosecurity protocols and be vigilant and responsible for the horses in their care. We are requiring a temperature chart be kept at 12-hour intervals and that this chart be made readily available to the show veterinarians upon request.

At this time all major shippers are aware of the situation in the state of Florida and voluntarily perform their own biosecurity measures. There is currently no restriction on horses leaving the property.

Stadium Jumping, Inc. wishes for all our exhibitors to have a wonderful showing experience and that all the horses on the grounds remain healthy. With this in mind please review the tips on the following page for maintaining your horses health.
